Parades

  • Ponca City’s Annual Lighted Christmas Parade – Friday 6pm, downtown on Grand.  After the parade, watch The Polar Express for free at the Poncan Theatre.  Showtime is 7:30.  Presented by Ponca City Arts & Humanities.
  • Newkirk – Parade at 6.  The school choirs will sing Christmas Carols at the Kay County Amphitheater at 5 p.m., followed by the Snow Prince and Princess Pageant at 5:15 in the Kay County Administration Building, and the Lighted Christmas Parade at 6.  Santa Clause will be on hand to meet families after the parade.
  • Ark City – Parade, part of the Christmas in the City festivities.  Click here for the schedule.
  • Blackwell’s 10th Annual Night of Lights Christmas Parade will be held on Monday December 5th at 6:30.  If you’d like to be in the parade, call the Chamber office at 580-363-41-95. 

Special Events & Activities

Friday – Oklahoma State University’s annual poinsettia sale will be held today at the Greenhouse Learning Center at 318 North Lincoln in Stillwater.  Hours will be from 7:30 am to 5pm both days, and the easiest way to access the Center is to turn off West Hall of Fame Avenue through the student parking lot.

9 to 5 The Musical – Friday through Sunday in the Kinzer Performing Arts Center at NOC Tonkawa.  The show is a production of the  Northern Oklahoma Division of Fine Arts with show times at 7:30 Friday and Saturday, with a final matinee performance Sunday at 2.

Ice Skating! Hours for skating at Ice on the Plaza, our new synthetic skating rink at Veteran’s Plaza in downtown Ponca City are tonight from 5 ‘til 10, tomorrow from noon ‘til 10 and Sunday 1-6.  Cost is $10 for kids 12 and under, $12 for adults, and just $8 for military, veterans, and seniors 65 and older.  And those prices included taxes, fees and skates.  Also…the Penguins on the Plaza Event, featuring live penguins, was originally set for last Saturday, has now been rescheduled for next weekend, Saturday Dec. 10 from 1-3. Saturday – Fly In Breakfast – Saturday morning at the Ponca City Airport.  From 7 ‘til 10 AM you can enjoy a traditional buffet style breakfast and watch the planes takeoff and land.  The monthly event is presented by the Ponca City Aviation Booster Club and the cost for the full breakfast is just $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Saturday First Lutheran Church and School of Ponca City will present their annual Christmas Market Oklahoma – the holidays with a German theme, this Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 ‘til 4 at 1101 North 4th.  Admission is free and you can shop and enjoy activities, German food for lunch, and many in and out of state vendors.   Proceeds from booth fees benefit the Lutheran School Scholarship Fund. Saturday The Return of the Nutcracker” at the Poncan Theatre Saturday night at 7:30.  A holiday themed comedy show with William Lee Martin.  Expect holiday stand-up and sketch comedy, plus sing-a-longs. For more information, click here.

Sunday The Ponca City Federated Music Club will present “Joyous Bells of Christmas”, a free holiday concert featuring the Music Club Choral Workshop and the newly formed Handbell Workshop, this Sunday at 2pm in the sanctuary of First Christian Church in Ponca City.  After the concert, you’re invited to stay for light refreshments.  For more information, call President Debbie Rue at 817- 296-4621.  First Christian Church is located at 210 North 5th.

Sunday The Ponca City Council of Garden Clubs invite the public to their annual Christmas Open House this Sunday from 1-4 at the Cann Garden Home.  You can purchase baked goods, candy, homemade crafts and other holiday treasures.  Proceeds go to Cann Gardens.  Admission, along with cookies and hot apple cider, is free.
