The Cowley College Golden Tigers kicked off the fall semester with a bang, according to a news release from the college.
Sept.1 was the first day of classes for the program and the first day trip of the semester. Frida Kahlo and Frank Lloyd Wright – two pillars in the art and architecture worlds, respectively – were the stars of the September trip.
Heading southeast to Bartlesville, Okla., the Golden Tigers visited Frank Lloyd Wright’s only fully realized skyscraper, Price Tower.
The trip then progressed south to Tulsa and the Philbrook Museum of Art.
Housed in a historic Italian mansion and home to beautiful sprawling gardens, the Philbrook Museum of Art is currently housing an exhibit on Mexican Modernism and Frida Kahlo. The day was filled with exploring how art and architecture impact society and the people in it.
“I had a wonderful time on this trip,” Golden Tigers coordinator Micah Fry said. “I am already trying to find a free weekend in my personal schedule so I can get back to the Philbrook and explore their gardens more. It was such a gorgeous day.”
