An officer and others suffered cut wounds early Saturday morning in Arkansas City.
According to a news release from the Ark City Police Department, officers were called at approximately 5:18 a.m. to the 400 block N. A Street via an open line 911 call.
Upon arrival, officers found an active disturbance between family members.
Police encountered a 43-year old Ark City man who was armed with a knife. One ACPD officer was cut during the incident.
The suspect became barricaded in the home, but was taken into custody after the suspect made a self-inflicted wound following a brief standoff. An additional victim at the scene was identified with a cut wound as a result of the disturbance.
The suspect was transported to SCK Health by Ark City EMS and was later transferred to a Wichita hospital. The suspect was transported in stable condition and is listed in stable condition at this time. The victim at the home and the officer were both treated at the scene and released.
The incident is currently under active investigation. More information on criminal charges will be released soon, the police department said.
