As of Sunday morning, there are now 429 cases of COVID-19 in the state of Oklahoma according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. A total of 1,205 cases have also showed as negative, and 140 Oklahomans have been hospitalized.
There are two new reported cases of COVID-19 in Kay County as of Sunday bringing the total in the county to 20. For surrounding counties, Osage Counties has 10 cases, Pawnee has 15, Noble and Logan each have 3 and Payne County has 12. Garfield County now has their first 2 cases of COVID-19. No cases reported for Grant County.
One new death from COVID-19 has been reported in the last 24 hours in Oklahoma. Health officials said the latest death was a man between the age of 50 and 64 in Oklahoma County.
Oklahoma County has the most COVID-19 cases in Oklahoma with 120, reports, Tulsa County follows with 61 cases and Cleveland County has 51.
COVID-19 is a virus identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China in 2019 and has since spread globally into a pandemic. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. While roughly 80% of cases report mild symptoms, some progress into severe pneumonia and multi-organ failure and can led to death. Current data indicates the risk of death for those contracting COVID-19 notably increases for individuals above the age of 60 or for individuals with autoimmune conditions. On January 11, 2020, the first set of individuals in the United States tested positive for COVID-19. The virus has since spread across all 50 states and the number of individuals testing positive for COVID-19 continues to rapidly grow each day.
