The Oklahoma State Department of Health is now reporting 17 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in the state and that includes a second case in Kay County. In addition to the two Kay County cases, there are six in Oklahoma County, three in Tulsa, two in Canadian, and one in Cleveland, Jackson, Payne and Pawnee. Of the 17 Oklahoma cases, 8 are affecting persons between the ages of 18 and 49, and nine are persons 50 and older. Of the 17, sixe are women, and nine are men. No deaths have been reported in Oklahoma. The count of confirmed cases in Kansas is now at 12 with one death reported.
The virus is spread mainly person-to-person and officials encourage Oklahomans to stay away from ill patients and to frequently wash your hands, and to avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. COVID-19 symptoms usually appear two to 14 days after exposure and most commonly include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
Older people and those with underlying health conditions like heart disease, lung disease, and diabetes are at a greater risk for a serious case.
