The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 666 new positive COVID-19 cases for Wednesday, Aug. 26. Oklahoma has seen an overall total of 54,838 COVID-19 cases with 7,661 cases active.
19 additional virus-related deaths were documented Wednesday to put Oklahoma’s death toll at 763. One of the deaths includes a Garfield County male in the 65 or older group. Garfield County also has 21 new COVID-19 cases to put their stats to 816 cases, 10 deaths and 550 recoveries.
Kay County saw an additional three new COVID-19 cases, putting the overall total to 294 cases, 11 deaths and 249 recoveries. Out of the active cases in the county, 27 are in Ponca City, four in Newkirk, three in Blackwell and one in Kaw City.
As for new cases in other local counties, there are 11 for Payne County, nine for Logan County, six for Osage County, five for Washington County, four for Pawnee County and one each for Grant and Noble counties.
OSDH reports that 898 more Oklahomans have recovered from COVID-19 as of Wednesday, putting the statewide recovery total to 46,414. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials also report that 782,546 test results have returned negative. There have been 4,609 total hospitalizations as 533 people are currently hospitalized.
