Board of Education Approves Stipend

The Ponca City Board of Education approved a one-time stipend for all PCPS full-time employees during the monthly board meeting on Monday night.
“As you know, the past three years have been brutally hard on everyone due to the pandemic,” said PCPS Superintendent Shelley Arrott. “Each and every one of our employees have performed tasks unrelated to their job and have gone above and beyond to be there for our Wildcats and each other. This pandemic has been hard on our kids, but on us, too. I doubt there are very few employees who have not considered retirement or changing professions, but yet here you are still serving our students! This stipend is a small gesture to let you know we value and appreciate you!”
Arrott said the board has been analyzing a stipend since the beginning of the school year but held off due to the rising costs of supplies. “With our bond projects and increasing costs, we wanted to wait until some bids were completed in December, January and early February to determine costs,” said Arrott. “All five board members were so supportive of this stipend.”
