NEWKIRK – The Kay County District Attorney’s Office made the decision on Tuesday to revoke the bond of former Peckham Public Schools Superintendent Gary Martin Young, 65.
According to court records shared by the Blackwell Journal Tribune on Facebook, the Major Crime Unit of the 8th District Attorney’s office were notified that Young violated the conditions of his house arrest when video evidence showed Young shopping at the Blackwell Walmart on Dec. 22, 2019 and Jan. 6, 2020. MCU Officer Ron Teel also spoke with witnesses who claimed to have seen Young.
Young was charged in the Kay County District Court for six felony counts. Three of which are of lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 16, two felony counts of cause/procure/permit injury or sex abuse to a child and one felony count of blackmail.
Under the terms of his bond, Young was not supposed to have any contact with his victims, but according to court documents, one of the juvenile victims works at the Blackwell Walmart.
Also under terms of the bond, Young was not permitted to leave his house unless he was attending a religious service, a medical appointment, or a meeting with his attorney in Oklahoma City.
The district attorney’s office then requested an immediate hearing to revoke Young’s bond, and the office asked the court to place Young in custody.
As of 10:05 p.m. Tuesday night, Young was not in the custody of the Kay County Detention Center.
Young had his preliminary hearing on Dec. 18, 2019 where he received a $50,000 bond. He was submitted to house arrest. Young is also not allowed to have any contact with any victims, witnesses, (excluding wife) and Peckham School staff members. There must be no firearms in the house. Young also was acquired to wear an ankle monitor operated by Alternative Sentencing Solutions of Oklahoma.
