More information is known about the man accused of shooting two Chickasha police officers who were serving a warrant Sunday afternoon at a home.
Authorities have confirmed the shooting suspect is 61-year-old Warren Klingler, who was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital for injuries suffered during his standoff with law enforcement. He was taken to the Grady County Jail after being released from the hospital.
Matthew Schoolfield and Daniel Ramirez were the officers involved in the shooting, and authorities said the investigation into the officers’ shootings is far from over.
Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation were at Klingler’s home yesterday, where shots were fired Sunday between the officers and suspect. Klingler barricaded himself inside the home for several hours until he finally surrendered to police.
Both officers were taken to area hospitals, and one had to be taken to OU Medical Center because his injuries were serious. One of the officers has since been released from the hospital, authorities said.
The Grady County district attorney will determine the charges against Klingler.
People in the Chickasha community said the injured officers are great people.
