First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow donated land, where the water town stands, to the city. In return, the city painted the church name on the tower.
Seem like a fair deal?
Not so fast says Andrew Seidel with the Freedom From Religion Foundation. He has sent a letter to the city asking for the church name to be removed, citing it as a violation of the First Amendment. Another citizen has also complained.
The city has decided not to take any action, saying they made a deal with the church and want to honor it.
