City of Blackwell calls for voluntary boil for drinking water

SHARE NOW

The City of Blackwell Facebook page shared an update Friday morning stating that residents may be experiencing low water pressure this morning that is due to the slower process of cleaning and disinfecting during extreme cold temperatures.

In an abundance of caution, the City of Blackwell is calling for a voluntary boil for drinking water through the weekend, due to the temporary loss of water in the lines and possible contamination such as dirt and debris.
Crews have worked all week to repair broken water lines in the city. Last night by 6 p.m., over 14 major line breaks had been replaced. Blackwell city employees from Electric, Streets, and Water departments have combined their energies to get this huge job completed.
There are at least five line breaks that were on the list to begin working on today. The City of Blackwell says they thank everyone for their patience as they continue to battle low temperatures, water line breaks, and low water pressure.
Thank a City worker today when you see them out in our community! They have worked 16 hour days or more every day this week to try and keep treated water coming to Blackwell residents.
Dedication, commitment, and service to Blackwell is what you see on display every day with these extremely hard workers.
Thank you so much!
