Williams Newton Hospital in Winfield, KS had scheduled a grand opening celebration today, Sunday, but it has now been cancelled due to a suspected case of coronavirus in Cowley County. Information on the hospital’s Facebook page says the suspected case is being tested to determine if the case is, in fact, the COVID-19 strain of coronavirus.
Other cases of the virus have been reported in the past few days with one case in Tulsa, along with one confirmed case in Johnson County, Kansas and a suspected case in Wichita.
The Cowley Courier Traveler is reporting that the hospital decided to call off the grand opening”due to these circumstances to protect patient, providers and the public.”
