Cowley County up to 27 COVID-19 cases

Across the state line in Kansas, Cowley County continues to see a climb in the number of COVID-19 cases as they’ve had 27 cases overall as of Monday evening.

There have been nine new cases reported since Friday. There are 23 cases active at this time.

The rise in cases is related to an outbreak that involves family members and several worksites, including the Rubbermaid plant in Winfield.

Nearly 950 tests have been done in Cowley County since the pandemic started according to the City-Cowley County Health Department.

It’s believed the current outbreak started when a family visited a county in the southwest part of Kansas with a high number of COVID-19 cases. The first cases in Cowley County connected to the outbreak was documented on Friday, May 29.
