Fatality Accident Involving Juveniles In Payne County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol also reported a fatality collision occurred early  Sunday morning about 4 miles west of Cushing, in Payne County.

The accident involved a 2013 Kia Optima driven by a 16 year old juvenile female from Cushing, OK. She was transported by Creek Ambulance Service to Stillwater Medical Center where she was treated and released.

All passengers in the vehicle were juvenile females from Cushing or Agra, OK.

Three passengers from Agra were transported by AirEvac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where they were admitted in serious condition.

A fifth passenger passed away at the scene due to massive injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report said the vehicle was westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver turned off the headlights and went through the intersection at 9th Street and Brethren Rd. The vehicle went airborne for a short distance and lost control once it landed. The vehicle departed the roadway to the right in a broad slide and struck a tree. The vehicle began to roll an unknown number of times coming to rest in a pasture.Four passengers were ejected during the roll event. The condition of the driver at the time of the accident is under investigation. The cause of the collision is attributed to exceeding the posted speed limit. Seatbelts were equipped, but only in use by the driver and the first passenger.
