A Fatality collision occurred Tuesday afternoon 3 miles west of Marland in Noble County.
A Dump Truck driven by Jerry Poplin of Fairfax had slowed down to give room to a crane traveling 15-20 miles per hour in the westbound lane. A Hispanic male of Arlington Texas was driving a 2005 Chevy Tahoe and failed to slow down. The Tahoe struck the dump truck in the rear. Inattention to driving was given as the cause of the accident.
The 55 year old Poplin was transported to Ponca City Hospital, treated and released. The 22 year old driver of the Tahoe, whose name is being with held pending notification of next of kin, was transported to the Ponca City Hospital where he was admitted in stable condtion with trunk and leg injuries. Two passengers in the Tahoe, were flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. One was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk injuries and the other passenger was admitted in critical condition with head arm and trunk injuries. A third passenger, a 19 year old male of Dallas Texas, died at the scene from a head injury. The passengers names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
