The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, in a corrected report released on Tuesday night, is reporting a Blackwell woman has died as a result of a motorcycle accident that happened on February 24th just south of Hubbard Road on LA Cann.
In that accident, 37 year old Jarrod Morton was driving a 1986 Suzuki Motorcycle southbound on LA Cann when he lost control going into a curve, throwing himself and a passenger onto the asphalt.
The passenger, Amanda Delano of Blackwell was flown to St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa, while Morton was transported to Alliance Health Center in Ponca City where he was treated and released with head, arm and trunk injuries.
According to a report from the Highway Patrol, Delano has now died as a result of injuries sustained in the February collision. Neither Morton or Delano were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
In the initial report, the cause of the accident was listed as unsafe speed.
This is a correction to the initial OHP release that stated that the driver had lost his life. After being contacted by one reader of our readers, Ponca Post sought clarification on the story from OHP, which then issued a corrected report. We’ll follow up with more details as they are released.
