The ongoing efforts to investigate the COVID-19 outbreak in Cowley County have led to the discovery of several new cases of the illness. The City-Cowley County Health Department released a press release Wednesday saying that their disease investigation team has identified five additional COVID-19 cases in Cowley County.
The new cases are all connected to the most recent disease outbreak which began last Friday, May 29. Additional testing is ongoing. To assist the Health Department in testing efforts, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has provided additional testing tools to the local health department. Local employers are working closely with the health department to help identify any close contacts and arrange for employees to be tested. All identified people are currently in quarantine. As of today, none have required hospitalization.
The new cases of COVID-19 puts the total of active cases in Cowley County at 11 with 15 reported cases overall. This number is expected to increase. All residents are reminded to take all required precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
