Former Kay County Sheriff Everette Van Hoesen dies.

Everette Van Hoesen, who worked for the Ponca City Police department for 25 years before being elected Kay County Sheriff died Saturday morning.  Van Hoesen was 69 years old.  Ponca City Police Chief Don Bohon said “His death is a major loss for Ponca City and Kay County.”  Van Hoesen retired for the PCPD as assistant chief in May of 1997.  He was elected Sheriff of Kay county in 2004.  Van Hoesen led the charge for the new jail In Kay County, along with obtaining grants and donations to buy protective vests for all deputies and reserve officers.

Van Hoesen retired in 2016 after serving Kay County for 12 years.
