Garfield and Noble counties each with new virus-related deaths Wednesday, 980 new COVID-19 cases statewide

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 980 new positive COVID-19 cases for Wednesday, Sept. 30. Oklahoma has seen an overall total of 87,199 COVID-19 cases as 13,068 cases are active.

13 additional virus-related deaths were reported Wednesday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 1,031. Two of those deaths were local. Noble County saw it’s third virus-related death as the individual was a male from the Perry area in the 65 or older group. The other was a Garfield County male in the 50-64 age group, making it the 21st for the county. All of Garfield county’s deaths have been for the Enid area.

Kay County saw an increase in COVID-19 cases as 21 new cases were reported for the county on Wednesday. Kay County has seen an overall total of 637 cases, 13 deaths and 470 recoveries. As for the active cases in the county, 138 are for Ponca City, nine each for Newkirk and Tonkawa and seven for Blackwell. Kaw City and Braman have no active cases.

For new cases in local counties, there are 38 for Garfield County, 34 for Payne County, nine for Logan County, six each for Noble and Osage counties and five for Washington County.

Kay County – 637 cases/13 deaths/470 recoveries

Logan County – 513 cases/1 death/403 recoveries

Pawnee County – 257 cases/3 deaths/235 recoveries

Noble County – 158 cases/3 deaths/134 recoveries

Grant County – 50 cases/1 death/38 recoveries

 

An additional 1,143 recoveries were documented Wednesday to put Oklahoma’s recovery total to 73,100. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.

Officials report that as of Wednesday, 1,116,829 test results have returned negative. There have been 6,449 total hospitalizations as 628 people are currently hospitalized.
