The future of Hastings is clouded with the announcement yesterday that Hastings Entertainment has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Hastings has 27 locations in Oklahoma with one store in Ponca City on North 14th Street. Hastings has locations in Stillwater, Enid and Bartlesville.
According to a press release, all stores will remain open while they attempt to sell the business. Hastings did announce that they will suspend game rentals and the buyback program. They announced that all Hastings gift cards will expire on July 13th. The press release also stated it was too early to speculate on store closures.
The selling process should take about 30 days. The company has 126 stores in the Midwest and South Central part of the U.S.
