Head Country Inc. acquired by Old World Spices and Seasonings

The partnership consolidates excellence in the BBQ space, making a broader range of choices in dry seasonings and BBQ sauces available to retail and food-service customers. Head Country products complement the powerhouse experience in grilling and BBQ offerings at Old World Spices and Seasonings, adding authentic BBQ favorites with a long tradition and an enthusiastic, loyal fan base.
Old World Spices and Seasonings, which started with the Jungk family in 1977, is a manufacturer of custom-blended spices, private-label seasonings, dry food products, and sauces. Old World is based in Overland Park, Kan.
Old World established leadership in the BBQ space with its Championship Line of BBQ seasonings, rubs, and sauces, a program that now boasts more than 150 SKUs in about 3,000 hardware and sporting goods stores. Old World partners with some of the leading BBQ pitmasters and leading BBQ restaurants. Between its manufacturing facility in Concordia, Mo., and its headquarters in Overland Park, Kan., Old World employs 135.
Last year, Old World Spices and Seasonings partnered with Shore Capital, in Chicago, to solidify its holdings and offerings in ingredients and flavor. The partnership between Old World Spices and Seasonings and Head Country is the first partnership as part of this strategy.
Born in the heartland of America’s best BBQ traditions, Head Country Bar-B-Q Sauce has been a regional favorite for nearly 75 years. Head Country has grown to be a leading producer of BBQ sauces, seasonings, and marinade.
Head Country has been the market share leader in Oklahoma for more than a decade. In recent years, demand for Head Country products has spiked, landing Head Country as the third-largest market shareholder in the South-Central region, the fifth-largest in Dallas, and in the top 10 nationwide.
