Hutchins Memorial Auditorium Closer To Coming Down

Ponca City’s Board of Commissioners approved a request this week to allow staff to advertise for bids for the demolition of the Hutchins Memorial Auditorium. Commissioners announced earlier this year the building would be coming down to make way for a new concert hall for Ponca City High School.

A site plan has been created and asbestos abatement in the building has been completed.  Utilities have been shut off and many of the plaques and lettering items from the building will be preserved.  The project will be advertised for bids July 14 with a mandatory pre-bid meeting on August 2 and a bid opening on August 11.  Staff recommendations will be made to the commission on August 22.

The anticipated start date for the demolition is late September or early October with the project taking 45 days to complete.  The Hutchins Memorial should be down by mid-November.
