Kansas man killed in Noble County accident Saturday

A Fatality collision occurred at 7:34 a.m. Saturday morning on Interstate 35, 9 miles north of Perry near mile marker 196 in Noble County.

Suresh Shrestha, 23, of Junction City was driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla southbound, departed the roadway right and impacted the rear of a 2016 Freightliner driven by James Joseph Greer, 38, of Kansas City, Missouri. The Freightliner was legally parked on the southbound shoulder.

After being pinned in the vehicle for 25 minutes, Shrestha was transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid in critical condition.  Shrestha was pronounced dead from head and trunk internal injuries. Greer was not injured.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Shrestha was in a sleepy condition.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Josh Kelle #493 of the Noble/Kay County Detachment of Troop K.  Assisted by Lt. Gabe Leach #167 of Troop K, Tonkawa Fire Department, Noble County Sheriff’s Office.
