A fatality collision occurred on Tuesday, December 18, at 9:01 p.m. on Interstate 35 at mile marker 192, 6 miles north of Perry in Noble County. What happened was that a 2003 Nissan, driven by 19-year-old female Jaylla Star Mims of Derby, KS., was driving with a 14-year-old female passenger of Bartlesville, OK., when the vehicle departed the roadway to the left. Mims over-corrected, causing the vehicle to depart the roadway to the right, over-correcting again, causing the vehicle to roll an unknown amount of times before coming to a rest on its top. The driver, Mims, was pinned for approximately 30 minutes before being extracted by the use of the Hurst tool.
Mims was pronounced dead at the scene due to head injuries according to Perry EMS. The body is to be transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Oklahoma City. The passenger, who did not have their name released, was submitted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City in stable condition where she was admitted for trunk internal and leg injuries. Both the driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts.
