The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 712 new positive COVID-19 cases for Thursday, Aug. 27. Oklahoma has now seen 55,510 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started, and 7,586 cases are active.
Fifteen additional virus-related deaths were reported Thursday to put the statewide death toll to 778. One of those being a Kay County male from the Ponca City area in the 65 or older group. Kay County also has one new COVID-19 case, putting the overall county-wide stats to 295 cases, 12 deaths and 251 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, there are 25 in Ponca City, four in Newkirk, two in Blackwell and one each for Kaw City and Tonkawa.
Another county with a new virus-related death on Thursday is Garfield County, who also has 49 new COVID-19 cases to put their total to 865 cases, 11 deaths and 562 recoveries.
As for new cases in other local counties, there are 40 for Payne County who has now seen over 1,000 cases, 10 for Washington County, four for Logan County, two for Pawnee County and one each for Grant, Noble and Osage counties
OSDH reports that 772 more Oklahomans have recovered from COVID-19 as of Thursday, putting the statewide recovery total to 47,186. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials also report that 790,299 test results have returned negative. There have been 4,673 total hospitalizations as 552 people are currently hospitalized.
