The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting an additional 710 positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, Aug. 28. Oklahoma has seen 56,260 COVID-19 cases, and 7,712 cases are active.
Kay County saw an increase with five new cases, putting the totals to 300 cases, 12 deaths and 254 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, there are 27 in Ponca City, four in Newkirk, two in Blackwell and one each in Kaw City and Tonkawa.
Eight additional virus-related deaths were reported Friday, putting Oklahoma’s death toll to 786. No further information has been released.
As for new cases in surrounding counties, there are 79 for Garfield County, 46 for Payne County, seven for Pawnee County and five for both Osage and Washington counties. No new cases for Grant, Logan and Noble counties.
OSDH reports that 576 more Oklahomans have recovered from COVID-19 as of Friday, putting the statewide recovery total to 47,762. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials also report that as of Thursday, 790,299 test results have returned negative. There have been 4,673 total hospitalizations as 552 people are currently hospitalized.
