Kay County sees 13 new COVID-19 cases as 909 new cases are reported statewide


The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 909 new positive COVID-19 cases for Thursday, Sept. 4. Oklahoma has now seen an overall total of 61,027 COVID-19 cases with 8,745 active cases.

Kay County saw a jump with 13 new COVID-19 cases. Kay County has now seen 340 cases, 12 deaths and 268 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, Ponca City has 49, Blackwell and Newkirk both have four and Tonkawa has one.

As for new cases in local counties, there are 80 for Payne County, 34 for Garfield County, 13 for Washington County, eight for Osage County, five for Pawnee County and two for both Logan and Noble counties.

While northern Oklahoma saw an increase in COVID-19 cases, none of the 14 virus-related deaths reported for Thursday were in the area. Oklahoma’s death toll is at 835.

OSDH is reporting 801 new recoveries on Thursday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 51,447. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.

Officials also report that as of Thursday, 842,019 test results have returned negative. There have been 5,013 total hospitalizations as 540 people are currently hospitalized.
