The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 666 new positive COVID-19 cases for the state on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Oklahoma has seen an overall total of 59,399 COVID-19 cases as 8,601 of those cases are active.
Kay County saw a big increase with 17 new COVID-19 cases. This puts the county’s total to 326 cases, 12 deaths and 262 recoveries. There are currently 45 active cases in Ponca City, three in both Blackwell and Newkirk and one in Tonkawa.
For new cases in local counties, there are 16 for Payne County, 13 for Garfield County, seven for Osage County, four for Logan County, three for Washington County and two for Noble County.
Nine new virus-related deaths were documented on Tuesday, putting the statewide death toll to 809. None of the new deaths occurred in northern Oklahoma.
OSDH is reporting 805 new recoveries on Tuesday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 49,989. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials also report that as of Tuesday, 8027,513 test results have returned negative. There have been 4,903 total hospitalizations as 535 people are currently hospitalized.
