Kay County sees increase with 20 new COVID-19 cases, 1,164 new cases statewide

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,164 new positive COVID-19 cases for Tuesday, Sept. 22. Oklahoma’s seen an overall total of 79,072 COVID-19 cases as 12,628 cases are active.

A total of 14 additional virus-related deaths were reported Tuesday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 962. None of those deaths were in local counties.

Kay County saw a bigger increase with 20 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county’s total to 531 cases, 13 deaths and 378 recoveries. A majority of the active cases in Kay County appear to be for the Ponca City area with 103. Other active cases include 25 for Newkirk, seven each for Blackwell and Tonkawa and two for Kaw City. For new cases in local counties, there are 22 for Garfield County, 15 for Payne County, 12 each for Logan and Osage counties, three for Washington County and two each for Noble and Pawnee counties.

Washington County – 954 cases/40 deaths/860 recoveries

Osage County – 796 cases/13 deaths/708 recoveries

Kay County – 531 cases/13 deaths/378 recoveries

Logan County – 422 cases/1 death/349 recoveries

Pawnee County – 245 cases/3 deaths/222 recoveries

Noble County – 143 cases/2 deaths/119 recoveries

Grant County – 40 cases/no deaths/31 recoveries

 

OSDH is also reporting 541 new recoveries to put Oklahoma’s overall recovery total to 65,482. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.

Officials report that as of Tuesday, 1,022,767 test results have returned negative. There have been 5,996 total hospitalizations as 628 people are currently hospitalized.
