Motorcycle hits deer west of Hominy Saturday night

A personal injury collision occurred at 10 p.m. Saturday evening on State Highway 20 and County Road 5575, 1.2 miles north and 6.7 miles west of Hominy in Osage County.

Carl Ray Lewis, 38, of Ralston was driving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on SH-20. A deer entered the roadway from the south. The motorcycle struck the deer, struck the ground, and departed the roadway to the right, coming to rest on the shoulder. Lewis was separated from the vehicle and traveled an indeterminate distance, coming to rest in the roadway.

Lewis was later transported by Air Evac to St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa.  He was admitted in good condition with arm, leg, head and trunk external injures.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Regnier #219 of Troop K. Assisted by: Air Evac, Mercy EMS, Hominy EMS, The Ralston Volunteer Fire Department, and the Osage Co Sheriff’s Office
