The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,212 new positive COVID-19 cases for Thursday, Oct. 8. Oklahoma’s seen an overall total of 95,564 COVID-19 cases as 13,190 cases are active.
Ten additional virus-related deaths were reported Thursday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 1,085.
Nine new COVID-19 cases were reported for Kay County. This puts the county at 725 cases, 15 deaths and 582 recoveries. As for the active cases in the county, there are 101 for Ponca City, 14 for Newkirk, 10 for Tonkawa and six each for Blackwell and Kaw City.
For new cases in local counties, there are 49 for Garfield, 21 for Payne, 10 each for Logan and Osage, eight for Washington County, three for Grant and one for Pawnee.

OSDH is reporting 1,078 new recoveries for Thursday as the statewide recovery total is at 81,289. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials report that as of Thursday, 697 people are currently hospitalized.
