The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,249 new positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, Sept. 18. Oklahoma has seen an overall total of 74,567 COVID-19 cases as 10,493 cases are active.
Nine additional virus-related deaths were reported Friday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 939. One of those deaths being a Payne County male in the 65 or older age group. Payne County also saw 38 new COVID-19 cases. Payne County has the fourth highest count of COVID-19 cases in an Oklahoma County as they have 1,966 cases, 6 deaths and 1,563 recoveries. A majority of the COVID-19 cases in Payne County have been in the Stillwater area which ranks seventh in the state for most COVID-19 cases in a community.
Latest data for Friday shows nine new COVID-19 cases for Kay County, putting the overall stats to 482 cases, 13 deaths and 352 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, there are 83 for Ponca City, 23 for Newkirk, five for Blackwell, three for Tonkawa and one for Kaw City.
For new cases in other local counties, there are 36 for Garfield County, 11 foor Osage County, nine for Logan County and three for Washington County.

OSDH is reporting 1,021 new recoveries for Friday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 63,135. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Officials report that as of Friday, 979,650 test results have returned negative. There have been 5,755 total hospitalizations as 516 people are currently hospitalized.
