With several fire chiefs in attendance, they decided not to call for the ban. The burn ban will not be issued because fire chiefs and the commission agreed Kay County does not meet criteria yet for a ban. The U.S. Drought Monitor shows Kay County to be in a moderate drought at this time. The only counties in a burn ban in the state include Beaver, Harper, Cimarron and Texas counties.
