The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 2,859 positive COVID-19 cases for Wednesday, Dec. 2. Oklahoma’s seen 202,341 COVID-19 cases overall, and 29,624 cases are active.
A total of 54 virus-related deaths were documented on Wednesday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 1,812. One of those deaths was for Pawnee County.
Deaths are often reported days or even weeks after they occurred, so it’s possible some of the 54 new deaths could be backlogged. The State of Oklahoma does not release the date of the deaths.
Kay County saw an increase with 45 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county at 1,944 COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths and 1,586 recoveries. As for the 333 active cases in Kay County, there are 267 for Ponca City, 43 for Blackwell, 25 for Newkirk, 12 for Tonkawa, five for Kaw City and one for Braman.
For new cases in local counties, there are 47 for Garfield, 43 for Osage, 41 for Payne, 26 for Logan, 10 for Washington, nine for Noble and six for Pawnee

OSDH also reported 3,499 new recoveries on Wednesday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 170,905. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
As of Tuesday, there have been 1,923,468 negative test results, 12,293 hospitalizations and 1,718 people currently hospitalized.
