An aircraft collision occurred Saturday when a Beachcraft Bonanza piloted by David Thomas Chael of Enid Oklahoma was approaching the airport when a cowl hatch on the plane opened.  The passenger of Alva, Cortney Washburn, was flying the plane when the cowl opened.  Chael took over the controls at that time and deployed the landing gear.  The front wheel of the plane struck a power line and the plane flipped and landed on its top.  Both occupants were exiting the plane when it exploded.  Dead at the scene was the 61 year old Chael from massive injuries.  The 39 year old passenger was flown by AirEvac to Baptist Burn Center in Oklahoma City.  He is listed in critical condition.  The accident is still under investigation.
