The Osage News is reporting that the Osage Nation has been awarded $5.1 million in Coronavirus relief money.

The relief money comes from the Paycheck Protection Program, part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. According to the Paycheck Protection Program application, IF the Osage Nation decides to use the money for the sole purpose of payroll and utility payments, the money acts as a guaranteed loan and will be forgiven for repayment. Osage Nation Treasurer Jim Littleton said the $5.1 million is enough to pay ON employees for five pay periods.

The Osage Nation has approximately 500 employees where the average monthly payroll is just over $2 million.
