Over the four-day New Year’s weekend, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reported a total of 17,042 new positive COVID-19 cases as Oklahoma has now seen 304,072 COVID-19 cases overall. There are currently 36,232 COVID-19 cases active for the state.
Over the holiday weekend, 94 new virus-related deaths were documented, putting the statewide death toll to 2,547. Three of those deaths were for Kay County. Thos three were for Ponca City, Blackwell and Newkirk. There were also two deaths for Payne County, two for Pawnee County and one each for Osage and Washington counties.
Kay County saw an increase with 277 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county’s stats to 3,509 cases, 34 deaths and 2,940 recoveries. Updated information for Kay County communities is posted below.

Over the New Year’s weekend, OSDH reported a total of 13,079 new recoveries as Oklahoma’s recovery total now stands at 265,293. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Health officials report that as of Wednesday, Dec. 30, there have been 2,362,344 total negative test results, 16,812 hospitalizations and 1,916 people currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.
