The new school year is set to begin.  Children are excited.  Drivers need to be very cautious, especially while driving in school zones.

“The speed limit in school zones is strictly enforced by our officers” says Ponca City Police Department Patrol Division Captain Earl Watkins.  “Some of the school zones are marked with signs indicating the times speed is enforced.  Some of the school zones are marked with flashing yellow lights the speed limit for both is 20 miles per hour” Watkins added.

William Kirkpatrick is the Municipal Judge.  “School zone fines are very expensive” he says.  “The court does not tolerate drivers speeding in school zones”, he added.
