Pilot from Ponca missing.

The pilot of a small plane, identified as Dr. Bill Kinsinger, that disappeared over the Gulf of Mexico was flying to collect a disabled dog.

Monica Marshall, who  coordinates flights for the nonprofit group Pilots N Paws said she was tracking Kinsinger’s plane when radar showed it veered off course by hundreds of miles.

Marshall says she has been unable to reach him by text and phone.

She says Kinsinger didn’t collect the disabled dog in suburban Austin, Texas.

The pilot, a 1980 graduate of Po Hi,  is the son of former Ponca City dentist, the late Dr. Ray Kinsinger.   His mother still lives in Ponca City.

Don Kinsinger, his uncle who also lives in  Ponca City confirmed the pilot’s identity yesterday.  Dr. Kinsinger is an anesthesiologist who lives in Edmond.

Officials said after Kinsinger failed to land his small plane at an airport in Central Texas the plane was later tracked by fighter jets flying over the Gulf of Mexico and appeared unresponsive.  He  may have been suffering from a lack of oxygen.
