Under the direction of David Christy, Head Band Director, Andrew Orr, Keith Crocker and Chad Keilman, Assistant Band Directors, the Ponca City High School Band recently earned Superior rating and second place overall at the “Mound of Sound Invitational Marching Contest” held at Southwestern College at Winfield, Kansas. The band also earned a Superior rating at the prestigious Central State Marching Festival held on the campus of Kansas State University. The contest was for rating only and did not rank bands. The band also had the privilege of working and rehearsing with Brian Britt, Director of the Pride of Oklahoma, prior to the OSSAA Regional Marching Contest held at Broken Arrow.

David Christy said, “It was a memorable experience for the band to march under the bright lights at the Bill Snyder Memorial Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas in front of a crowd of over 8,000 people. The Big Blue Band represented Ponca City extremely well at both contests.”
