The Ponca City Public School District has rolled out their Return to Learn Plan 2020-2021. The Plan is posted on the district website and Facebook page. Superintendent Shelley Arrott explained, “The District goal is to create an in-person, traditional learning environment with layers of safeguards embedded to protect students, families, and staff. In an effort for all students to remain Wildcats and continue to have instructional support from a PCPS teacher, the district is offering different options for learning to best accommodate the needs of students and families. We urge parents and patrons to keep in mind the situation is very fluid. We will continue to communicate frequently if changes arise. Please call 580-767-8000 with any questions. We are here to support our students, parents, and community.”

Every school and department have provided a plan that is posted on the front page of the district website www.pcps.us in video and written format. The PCPS Board of Education is meeting this week to make a decision about masks for students and staff. An update will be communicated after that meeting.

PCPS will partner with Kay County Health Department, Oklahoma State Department of Health, and OSDH State Epidemiologists to make determinations of possible intermittent closure due to lab-confirmed positive COVID-19. The district is prepared to go with alternate plans for Option 1, in the event restrictions are imposed with limits of students in buildings. The plans will only be implemented if mandated by the State or we are not able to keep school open due to increased spread.
