Ponca Man Dies in Friday Morning Accident West of Newkirk

A Ponca City man has died after an early morning accident on Friday west of Newkirk.  The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that 36 year old Jerad Going was traveling eastbound on Peckham Road, 2 miles west of Newkirk, at approximately 6:45am when he departed the roadway to the right, hit a road sign, vaulted off a driveway and began rolling.  Eventually the vehicle, a 1994 Nissan, came to rest on its side in a creek where it was partially submerged in water.  The driver was partially ejected  and was pinned in the vehicle.

Going was pronounced dead at the scene by Newkirk Police, Fire and EMS, due to massive injuries.  There were no other passengers in the vehicle and Going was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
