HomeLocalPonca PostPonca Man Dies in Saturday Morning Accident on I35Ponca Man Dies in Saturday Morning Accident on I35Sat, March 3, 2018 by Lyman JamesSHARE NOW A Saturday morning accident on I35 has claimed the life of a Ponca City man. 25 year old Aric Ailey was walking on the interstate at about 10:20 AM and stepped in front of a southbound 2016 Peterbilt driven by 48 year old Christopher Wilhite of Larned Kansas. The accident occurred on I35 southbound at mile marker 210, approximately 2 miles south and 2 miles west of Tonkawa, OK in Kay County.Wilhite struck Ailey and a second vehicle, a 2015 Ford driven by 53 year old Norman Dollarhide. of Tonkawa. Neither Wilhite or Dollarhide were injured. A passenger in Dollarhide’s vehicle, 47 year old Lesley Dollarhide of Tonkawa was also not injured.Ailey was transported by AirEvac to Wesley Hospital in Wichita and pronounced dead at from head, trunk internal, trunk external, arms, and legs injuries, by Wesley Hospital medical staff.Investigated by Trooper Josh Kelle #493 of the Kay/Noble Detachment of Troop K. Trooper Ross #845, Tonkawa Tribal Police, Fort Oakland Police, Tonkawa Fire Department and EMS, and AirEvac.
