The Ponca City Public Schools will be holding an informational meeting for parents of upcoming PreK and Kindergarten students on Thursday, April 21, 2022. The purpose of the meeting is to share pertinent information with parents of 4- 5-year-old students who will be attending PCPS during the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
The meetings will take place at the Washington PreK Center located at 1615 N. 7th Street. Please enter the parking lot behind the school off Little Street and enter the back door to the gym to attend the meeting. The meeting for parents of PreK students will take place from 5:30 to 6:00 and the meeting for parents of Kindergarten students will take place from 6:15 to 6:45.
In order to attend PreK, a student must turn four on or before Sept. 1. In order to attend Kindergarten, a student must turn five on or before Sept. 1. Kindergarten is required by the state of Oklahoma. All Kindergarten students will attend classes at the elementary school located within the school boundaries of his/her home address.
The PreK registration window has been set for April 25-28 and May 2-6. If your child will be attending PCPS during the 2022-2023 school year, we recommend you take advantage of early registration for 4-year old students. Up-to-date shot records are required. Please take advantage of the Kay County Health Department or your child’s physician to get your child’s required vaccinations. At this time parents can also register their child for PCPS after school care program, Cat Care for the upcoming school year (space is limited).
PCPS looks forward to serving you and your child during these fundamental grade levels where important foundational skills are mastered in preparation for your child’s academic career. PCPS encourages you to attend the informational meetings to learn more about your child’s early childhood program and curriculum expectations. These meetings are designed to provide information to parents about how to prepare their child for their first academic experience.
