Rain For Thanksgiving, Freezing Rain Possible Friday Night

If you’re planning to head “over the river and through the woods” for the Thanksgiving Holiday, stay up-to-date on weather conditions.

The latest forecast for the Ponca Post region is calling for a 100% chance of rain on Thanksgiving Day, plus a chance of freezing rain Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Tuesday afternoon, The National Weather Service office in Wichita issued a Winter Weather Advisory for counties north of the Oklahoma/Kansas State line including Cowley and Sumner.

A 20 percent chance of rain or drizzle after midnight. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 54. South southeast wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday

A 30 percent chance of rain or drizzle, mainly before 9am. Cloudy, with a high near 65. South wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Wednesday Night

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 59. South southeast wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Thanksgiving Day

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 61. South southeast wind 17 to 20 mph becoming east northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Thursday Night

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 36. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Friday

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon, then a chance of rain after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday Night

A chance of rain before midnight, then a chance of rain or freezing rain. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
