Registration continues until Aug. 10 for the “Cat Care” After School Program for Ponca City Public School students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. This program allows students to remain at his/her own school site until parents can get off work to pick them up.
Snacks will be offered by the Child Nutrition Program. Daily activities range from recreation and games to arts and crafts projects, free reading and music. The after-school program maintains a fully trained staff that will provide a safe, caring environment for all students.
New program director Tammy Hodges said in the event that enrollment at a particular site is not high enough to support the program, the district will arrange for students to be transported to a neighboring site. Hodges said a total of 65 students were enrolled in the program as of Tuesday morning.
The program begins at the time of school dismissal and closes at 5:30 p.m. All students need to be picked up no later than 5:30 p.m. each day.
There is a $25 fee due upon registration (non-refundable). The cost is $180 per month for pre-K students and $160 for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Discounts will be given to families with more than one child.
The “Cat Care” program will begin on the first day of school (Aug. 18) and closes on the last day of school (May 20, 2022). It will serve children only during scheduled school days. If school is closed due to inclement weather, child care will not be available.
