Registration Continues for Ponca City Schools

Enrollment numbers were presented Monday night to the Ponca City Board of Education. As of Aug. 9, the district has a total enrollment of 4,033 students. The district ended last year with 4,388 students.
“It is typical to have many enroll the day before and the day school starts,” said Superintendent Shelley Arrott. “We have three more days of registration this week, and I believe enrollment will be up based on past years.”
Elementary enrollment numbers stand at 1,844 students. This includes elementary and three-year-olds, speech or TSL.
Woodlands Elementary has the highest enrollment numbers right now with 296. A new kindergarten class had to be added at Woodlands Elementary this fall due to the high enrollment numbers.
The second highest elementary enrollment is at Lincoln Elementary followed by Trout, Roosevelt, Union, Washington Pre-K Center, Liberty and Garfield.
Sixth and seventh grade enrollment at West Middle School so far this year is at 631 students. There’s also another 326 eighth graders registered for East Middle School.
Enrollment for Ponca City High School and the Wildcat Academy currently stands at 1,232 students.
Arrott also noted that there’s 159 students returning for the 2021-2022 school year from a public virtual school.
Enrollment for Ponca City Virtual Academy stands at 71, with 19 elementary, 16 middle school and 36 high school. Arrott said PCPS ended last year with 235 in PCVA.
The Registration Center at 111 West Grand Avenue will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday. It will be closed on Friday and reopen on Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
