Search warrant executed at marijuana grow in Kaw City

Sheriff Steve Kelley and The Kay County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, conducted an investigation last week on a commercial marijuana grow in the city limits of Kaw City.

 

A search warrant was executed early Thursday morning and included two adjoined properties containing 6 large structures and 13 very large wood frame and plastic grow houses. Multiple subjects were detained. Arrests were made and charges are being filed on other participants not present at the time of the search warrant. Approximately 2700-3000 full grown marijuana plants were seized and destroyed. OBN estimates the street value of this plant seizure to be near $3 Million.

 

Other details of the investigation are not being released to the public at this time. Agencies assisting OBN and the Kay County Sheriff’s office were; Ponca City Police Dept, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Kaw Nation Police Dept, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Newkirk Fire Ambulance and Tac Medic, Brian Hermanson and the 8th district DTF, Kay County District 1 equipment and operators.
