September 6 is Cutoff Date to Request Absentee Ballots for District 1

Voters in  District One of Kay County have until 5 p.m. on Sept. 6 to request absentee ballots for the Sept. 12 elections.

Absentee ballot application forms are available at the Election Board office located at 201 S. Main Street, Newkirk. The absentee ballot application forms also can be downloaded and printed from the internet at www.elections.state.ok.us.

Voters in Kay County District No. 1 will choose between Republican candidates Allen Hardesty, Jack Godberson, Jay Kirkendall, Duane Vap, and Jerald Stone.

The winner will take on Democrat John Leven in November.

The five Republican candidates will speak tomorrow night at Pioneer Technology Center beginning at 7 p.m.

Only District one Republican voters can vote in the election.

Voters who are not sure what district they live in can contact the election board for information.

Also on Sept. 12, voters in Blackwell will go to the polls for a special election.

There are 14 items on the Blackwell ballot.
