The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 3,305 new positive COVID-19 cases for Wednesday, Jan. 6. Oklahoma’s seen 311,573 COVID-19 cases overall as 34,283 cases are active.
A total of 62 virus-related deaths were documented on Wednesday to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 2,633. Six deaths were for Kay County, five of which were for Ponca City and one for Tonkawa. The Kay County individuals were four females and two males that were all in the 65 or older group. Other deaths locally include a female and a male in Logan County that were both in the 65 or older age group, a Payne County male in the 65 or older age group and a Washington County female in the 36-49 age group. It’s uncertain as to how many of the deaths occurred in the past 24 hours.
Kay County also saw an increase with 79 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county at 3,619 cases, 40 deaths and 3,059 recoveries. Data for Kay County communities is posted below:

As for new COVID-19 cases in local counties, there are 73 for Payne, 31 for Washington, 25 for Garfield, 24 for Logan, 21 for Osage, 14 each for Noble and Pawnee and one for Grant.

OSDH also reported 2,964 new recoveries for Wednesday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 274,657. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Health officials report that as of Wednesday, there have been 2,447,350 total negative test results, 17,886 hospitalizations and 1,994 people currently hospitalized due to COVID-19. There are 488 patients in ICU.
OSDH announced Tuesday that they plan to launch an online registration portal to help Oklahomans determine when they’re eligible for the vaccine and how to schedule. The registration portal will be functional for all Oklahomans on Thursday.
